The Suprise team will be the Phillies. This is why:
Starting Pitching- Freddy Garcia-17 wins last year, Cole Hamels- In 1/2 season 9 wins, Brett Myers-ERA around 3.00-3.50, Jamie Moyer- Career 210+ game winner, Adam Eaton- good 12 game winning pitcher
Lineup-
1 Jimmy Rollins-25 Home Runs, 85 RBIs
2 Shane Victorino- great fielder and very fast
3 Chase Utley- 32 Home Runs, 102 RBIs and .300+ BA
4 Ryan Howard- 58 Home Runs, 149 RBIs and .313 BA
5 Pat Burrell- 29 Home Runs, 95 RBIs
6 Wes Helms- .329 BA
7 Aaron Rowand- 12 Home Runs (while not injured batted .300+
8 Rod Barahas- either 05 or 06 hit 21 Home Runs
Disapointment
Cubs
Although they have a tremendous lineup they had a great one last year also and couldn't get out of the .300 Winning percentage mark all year.
Its hard to say that two people (manager-Lou Pinella and outfielder-Alfonso Soriano) can make all the difference of 20-40 more wins.
But if they can pull it together and put last years wreck in the past I could be wrong.
Remember these predictions because there is a good chance I'll be 100% right.

the biggest surprise will be the blue jays they showed some really good stuff last year they will prolly make the playoffs this year but i honestly doubt that they will go past the 2nd round
as far as the biggest dissapointment i would say will be the cubs after they spent oh so much money on soriano and all the free agents they picked up for them to not do good will be a dissapointment but for some reason i think they will prolly suck just like the last couple of years ever since that playoff game in 03 i think they have forgotten how to win

I honestly think the Pittsburgh Pirates will be the biggest surprise in baseball this year for several reasons. Number one would be that since the Pirates have had bad teams for the last 14 years, no one will expect them to do any good. The Bucs have made many improvements this year. They have one of the youngest starting pitching staffs in the majors and they have a years experience under them now. They also aquired the left handed power hitter they have long been looking for. They still have a very good bullpen also. I'm not saying they'll make the playoffs, but you said most improved so I'm sticking with them. Most disappointing team I think will be the Yankees. Everyone overrates them every year. Where are their starting pitchers? Mussina is good, but aging, Petitte injured last year and best years behind him, Pavano is injury prone. The only proven starter they have is Wang. Great lineup, but pitching is mediocre. Lucky to win 90 games.

The biggest suprise will be the Blue Jays. They will win the Wildcard.
The biggest dissapointment will be either the Mets (they have a lot of pitching woes) and may not come close to last year despite having great offense. The Red Sox decided they NEVER want to use the "Evil Empire" boo-hoo excuse and sign players for extrodinary amounts of money. They miss the playoffs and finish 3rd in the AL East (which isnot saying much because the will be ahead of the 'Rays and Baltimore).

i will say the biggest dissappointment will be the twins because beside Johan the rest of their pitching staff is weak with Bonser who i don't think is a number two in the rotation kind of pitcher, Silva, Garza, and Perkins. This staff will have a problem against a very strong central. My surprise team will be the Diamondbacks. Last year they had a slow start a very good August but a mediocre September. I think Johnson will bring much needed help and dominate a very weak West. If they could get a good matchup in the first round you just never know.

I think the Cubs for both. They will do very well during the season and theirs fans will be expecting they to go all the way will all the money they spent this year. But they are the Cubbies and will blow it one way or another and their fans will feel the biggest disappointment in many years.

The suprise will be the Brewers due to the good young talent of Hardy, Weeks, Capuano, and Fielder. Plus they have a good rotation and a decent pen. Their fate rests on Ben Sheets arm so as long as it doesn't fall off mid pitch they should be fine.
Disappointment will be the cubs. They pulled a Yankees and spent a ton of money to lose in the Playoffs (if they even make the playoffs).

The biggest surprise will be the Braves and Indians.
The Mets will not duplicate last year success with that current pitching staff. They will be the biggest disappointment.
