I ask this thinking to J.K. Rowlings, Hillary Clinton, and others.
It seems to be an attraction of blonde writers, though real talented writers were brunettes or naturally blondes.

My question, is someone writes a book should she change especially for the cover photo? Would be more appealing, successul if the writer would be a blonde? No matter what the subject of the book is.

It is just a coincidence. Usually, people aren't interested in what the writer looks like as long as the book is good.

Coincidence has absolutely NOTHING to do with it. Yes, blondes, and depending on how the rest of their bodies look, will get more attention which will translate into book sales.

As a publisher, I can tell you that the publishing industry is very much a part of the entertainment industry. Whether we like it or not, we live in a very visual, youth-oriented society. The more "attractive" an author looks, the better the chances are of being published in the first place, and then that will translate into sales, and baby, sales is all it is about. It "ain't" about the writing, not any more. There is a lot of crap on the New York Times Best-sellers List and it has to do with the fame or the "look" of the author, not the "quality" of the writing. How many successful actors, authors, celebs, can you think of that are fat, old, and ugly? Yes there are a few, anomolies, they are the exception, not the rule, and, they were most likely successful before the youth-oriented culture became epidemic in this country.

You could be the best writer to come along since Hemmingway, but if you are fat, old, ugly, bald, and no teeth, all the poignant prose in the universe won't get you anywhere. Promoting and marketing a book is as much about promoting the author as it is the book. You need to look your best.

So, my friend, if you are young, at least you have your youth going for you. If you do not take care of yourself, shame on you for the obvious health reasons, but if you plan on becoming a best-selling author you should take care and get yourself in the best physical shape you possibly can, wear the best clothes you can afford, and yeah, dye your hair blond. Once you are successful, you can look any way you want. Then people will be attracted to you because of your eccentricities. Have you seen Britney Spears' bald head lately? Of course, she did it for the publicity, come on. If she had shaved her head before she was famous, she would just be what she really is, a backwater, unintelligent, bald-headed Louisiana hick.

Please do not misunderstand, I'm not saying I like it, I
don't. I'd rather publish writing talent not flesh, flash, and
frills, but I am a businessman, and I have bills to pay.
