there are two houses on our property. the main computer has a linksys router. and we need to get something that will boost the connection so that it goes all the way down to the other house. right now with our router we get one signal at the other house. how might i boost the signal. what software or device

Without being able to physically see your situation I would guess that it is simply a matter of distance the signal has to travel. To enhance the signal you could build/buy a better antenna for your router and for you wireless card. You might also be able to buy a couple of access points and mount them where they can communicate and then run Cat-5e cable to you computer. As far as software I don't know of any that will boost the signal without simply buying different equipment.

About the only thing you are going to be able to try is to get some "high gain" antennas for both the router and the wireless card in the computer, this will boost the signal somewhat and should be rather cheap. I would try this first, or else it's going to get ugly.

the only way is to buy a better chip, router or both...linksys looks fine but try a more sadly, expensive chip........the really good stuff costs a bundle. save up :P
