I am currently an undergrad at a top school and everyone is always discussing their plans to go to med/law/grad school. Since I really don't want to pursue a career in med or law, I was thinking maybe going to grad school and pursuing a degree in english or somewhere in the humanities. But to tell the truth, I'm getting a little sick of the scholarly environment. There's a lot of pressure here to be perfect and I think maybe I should just take my BA and go get a decent job and start making some money. But w. the job market these days people have been stressing the importance of getting at least a masters degree. So what do you think? Is grad school worth it? Or is it another period of my life that will have me ripping my hair out?

Depends on the program. My grad program makes me feel like I'm in elementary school again. My program is a cohort program meaning that I take every class with the same 30 people until I graduate. There is homework due every week. We do tons of group papers and presentations. Attendance affects my grade.

Although I seem to be bitching about it I love it. I love it because it is way more focused than undergrad and every course that you take is important and is interesting.

I went to grad school for astronomy, and for me it was easier than college. But then I went to MIT as an undergrad, so that might be a factor.

grad school is a piece of cake! all you do is drink beer, get laid, and smoke dope. Just make sure the invoices are paid on time and 3 years later - tah-dah! Masters! A PhD is EVEN easier! AND, at the PhD level, you get FOREIGN chicks!

Oh, it's a BLAST! I have 7 PhDs - and I can BARELY walk!
