Happiness is when you appreciate life and the good things in life. Having a good life is what makes me happy. Yes I am rarely unhappy.

I like your question.Sounds simple, yet it isn't.Is happiness the same as glee? Is it the same as contentment? At this particular moment, which is all we really have, I am content. My grandson, who is 2 says "I'm happy" when he is having fun playing. Things seldom are "fun" for me anymore (I am old) but I feel content a good deal of the time. Glee? Not so much. I find things amusing a lot. Does this mean I'm happy? Good question.

Happiness could be different due to an each person. I think I become happy when I feel free, or there is nothing you worry about something. It will be borig life, if people don't have a problem.

For me, happiness is when I am solving a complex problem and when my neurons are firing in a 'flow'. To me, it's something that happens because of what you do. I am happy from time to time, but I don't expect to be happy all the time.

"Csikszentmihalyi (psychology, Univ. of Chicago) has for 25 years made ... observations regarding 'flow,' a field of behavioral science examining connections between satisfaction and daily activities. A flow state ensues when one is engaged in self-controlled, goal-related, meaningful actions." (see link)

"Most people are about as happy as they decide to be."

"Happiness is not the satisfaction of whatever irrational wishes you might blindly attempt to enjoy. Happiness is a state of non-contradictory joy - a joy without penalty or guilt... Happiness is possible only to a rational man, the man who desires nothing but rational goals, seeks nothing but rational values, and finds his joy in nothing but rational actions... there are no victims and no conflicts of interest among rational men, men who do not desire the unearned..."

True happiness is a balance of your desires to your achievements. If you really think about it, it's not easy. Most of use want more than we can do or afford. And what we can afford and do, we might not want.

Happiness is different in each of us as we are individuals. I guess you could say it is relative.
