As a Twins fan, I'm a little disappointed to say the least. Instead of having to get Sheffield out in six games a year it's now like 20 games a year...super!

Personally, I was really hoping the Twinkies were going to make a move for Sheff. He was exactly what the team needed too. An experienced player with some serious right-handed power to stick between Mauer and Morneau.

I love Sheffield and I think he's going to have a great season and he'll be a great mentor to a lot of those young guys on the Tigers. I realize he may not have the best attitude in the game, but you can't argue with pure talent and he's proven time and time again...he's got plenty of it.

I think Shef will do great in a tiger uniform, and his bat will be a plus,And i know Leyland won't put up with his attitude, (Torre at times is too laid back) Besides the Yankees had too many all stars, too many attitudes,i'm glad some of that was broken up this yr,I'm not taking anything away from Shef,he played hard with the yanks the last couple of yrs,But last yr he really had a bad attitude, and started alot of trouble when we went to the playoffs,Hope he's happy with the Tigers,,If he's not,,then he's trouble,,But i think he'll be just fine!!

He'll go out and play theres never a question against that. But if he's going to be all happy then where does his edge go? That is what he plays of off is to prove to other people he can play. If he isnt playing in the outfield he wont be able to show the Yankees he is more valuable then Bobby Abreu. He will still have good numbers, home runs will be more in the 20-25 range just because of the park but 100 rbi is always easy for him to get. His bat will give the Tigers and upgrade but will his attitude?

Sheffield will give the Tigers a good start with about 30 games, then he will land on the DL for about 100 games and be back to play the last 30.

Sheffield goes in to this season with a very big chip on his shoulder. Hopefully he won't try to over do it and start bad.

He can't let what the Yankees did to him get the best of him.

Sheffield and Leyland could end up being a revised version of Reggie Jackson and Billy Martin if they ever get into it.

It's a question of wants and needs. The Tigers needed a big bat and that is exactly is what they will be getting with Sheffield. The Yankees needed to add to their pitching and that is what they got. Sheffield will do well in his Tigers uniform and I am certain he will wear it with the pride and dedication thht he wore in his past uniforms as well.

Nice pick up. But I don't see it tilting the central in a big way. Its still gonna be the Sox Twins and Tigers battling it out in the final month. WIll the Tigers pitching dominate like they did last season? History says staffs always take a step back after a hot year.
Guess we'll see what happens in the best division in baseball...

It will be good to see him in any uniform that doesn't have pinstripes & a big NY sewn on it..

So it will be sweet to see him in a Tigers Uniform and seeing him sport that old english D.

It would be better if he was wearing a beautiful red uniform over in Orange County.
