The same people who thought that they'd be the biggest surprise in 2006.
The key question is: have they improved their pitching staff enough to compete with the Tigers, Sox and Twins in the division? They definitely have a very strong offense and have some of the best young players in the league. But baseball is about pitching and defense when it comes down to it. And we know their defense isn't that great so they really will need their pitching to dominate.
Although I think they will play more like they did in 2005 than in 2006, I do not think they will be the "biggest" surprise this year, because those that know baseball know that they have a good team and can play much better than they did last year. Don't know though whether or not they will be able to make the playoffs this year. Guess why that's why they play the games.

No surprise. The Indians are a very good team. Last year was a surprise they finished 4th. If you take the time to read my other answers and questions you will see that I am concerned with The Indians this year.
And yeah, The Tigers were no fluke last year. I see The Tigers, Twins, White Sox, and Indians all battling it out for the division title.
I see The Indians finishing in 3rd this year behind The Central Division Champion Detroit Tigers and the wild card Minnesota Twins.

look im a huge indians fan but i just don't see us as a surprise team. the american league central is so good, everyone but the royals could win it. with as tough a division as we have i just dont see us being much better than 10 games over .500 and that would not come as a surprise to anyone who knows the tribe

Dont forget the all-star catcher VMartinez along with the new pickup of Trot Nixon. Starting pitching is definately strong with CCSabathia and Westbrook.
Yes, they look very strong but Minneasota is always too tough for that division.

I wouldn't call them a suprise. They barely missed the playoffs two years ago, and the young team is beginning to gel with a quality pitching staff...finally! Go Tribe!

I do and they will. If the Tigers can come out of the blue so can the Indians.
