I just took a home pregnacy test and it was positive!! But it was not my first of the morning urine, Could I have a false positive? My husband and I were told we may not be able to have any more children, and I have not had a period in about a year so could that have something to do with it and could give me a false positive? I REALLY DONT WANT A FALSE POSITIVE!

A false positive is very unlikely, so congrats! To ease your mind, take another test with first of the morning urine tomorrow. First of the morning urine does not really have to be used, since pregnancy tests are so sensitive that they can usually pick it up. Good luck and congrats!

No such thing as a false positive. Pregnancy tests (at home or given by a doctor) measure the HCG hormone. HCG hormones are emitted only by pregnant women. If you've tested positive, you're pregnant. False negatives are common by folks who test too early, but once you get a positive, you can pretty much rely on that result. Good luck!

I would think that if it was not first morning urine, it would more likely give a false negative than a false positive. I was pregnant with twins and got 2 false negatives and an inconclusive. So, my guess is that you are pregnant. I would check http://www.babyhopes.com/articles/falsepositive.html however as there are times when a false positive does occur.

My doctor told me when I was pregnant, (and asked ARE YOU SURE???) that with a home-pregnancy test, if the reading is positive it is for sure positive. The only way you can get a false reading is if it's in the other direction (it will read negative but possibly be positive).

Hope that helps!! Congrats!!

CONGRATS! Pregnancy tests test for a hormone only found in pregnancy HCG. It recommends first morning urine on the test because concentrations are higher first thing in the morning, but a positive is a positive! Call your OBGYN and schedule your 1st visit in 8 wks!=) blessings!

Try taking another pregnancy test and try going to the doctor. If all 3 are positive theres a 99.9% chance you are pregnant. When you find out that you are start getting prenatal treatment! Congratualtions!

It doesn't matter if it isn't first morning urine...The tests made these days are really sensitive...Best bet...try again with first morning urine, then go to the DR for a blood test to be sure...Good Luck!!
