I live in Houston and I ordered a phone from verizon on last Thursday. It was shipped that same day via Fedex Express and I haven't gotten it. I really need to have a working cell phone. It is already in Houston at a local Fedex facility. So can I just go pick it up myself instead of continually waiting?

It will likely go out for delivery in the morning before the post office opens. It was likely delivered FedEx SmartPost, a service of FedEx Ground. It travelled the whole FedEx Ground network until it got to your local post office, who will execute the final delivery. FedEx had found this very economical, as they're utilizing the USPS for the last step, delivering to every address something they're Congressionally required to do that no private company would be able to.

Call them up and let them know you want to pick it up otherwise it could get loaded on the truck in the morning and be driven around all day.

yes...call them and ask them to hold it at the station for you. If they attempted it during the day..you can pick it after 6 pm. Also, after the third attempt you have to pick it up within a week. good luck
