Do I need to use cold water, or warm water, or hot water, when I
operate the garbage disposal? Thank You

It doesn't matter. I use a cup of vinegar and a handful of baking soda in it once a week, then rinse that with really hot water. But the rest of the time it's a moot point.

Generally, cold.

"Grease is the main cause of pipes clogging. To avoid this, use plenty of cold water when running the disposer. Cold water hardens grease so it can properly be ground up and flushed away, while hot water can melt grease and cause it to stick to the pipes, eventually resulting in a clog. Some experts advise running cold water for several seconds before using the disposer and for at least a minute after stopping use."

Use cold water but let it run a little while after you shut off the disposal to clear everything out of the drian.

most manufacturers recommend cold water since it keeps the unit from heating up
