"Half of the students who want to attend a dance don't get to go. Why? Lost permission slips on the way home, forgetting to get a parent's signature, a student's transgression at home results in a punishment of "you can't go", lost permission slips on the way to school, and teachers' and administrations' loss of slips. Are these valid and solid reaons to "not dance". No."

Sorry it's so long. You can chop out any redundancies. But I can remember very well these problems when I was in school, so I learned how to forge my mother's signature!

To give it out permission slips, or not to give out permission slips? That is the question. I, for one, believe the answer to this controversial topic is that permission slips should not be handed out. There is no need for them. (Then go on and explain your reasoning.)

Hope this helps. Good luck!
