Maybe more than a lot of them. If you have become a citizen you had to take a test & you really wanted to learn it. I think I can you a run though, I started working in & studying politics when I was 14 - when Nixon started running for president. I have always loved national politics.

In a lot of schools across the nation american goverment or civics has been made a optional class rather then madatory to graduate, which has lessened the knowledge of graduates, but fortunately the trend is reversing and civics/ american government is returning as mandatory

It is the liberals strategy to dumb down America.They are supported by the teachers union.Schools do a lousy job at educating our people, even though they have more money for education than any other country.Our schools won't get better until the teachers unions lose their strong hold.

Because they were born here and Americans never travel abroad, and when they do, they expect things to conform to them. Most do not understand just how lucky they are, and attack those who come here because they actually respect the ideas of the US.

I would be in favor of everybody having to pass the citizenship exam to get a vote...

Because in high school, when they should be earning a sense of history and process, they are overly concerned with drivel, like who the father of Anna Nicole's baby is, and Brittney's new hairdo. I shudder to think that these will be our leaders some day!

I think they understand alot more than you think, but think they are easily misguided and accept lies as truths. I also believe many have become apathetic, feel they can't do anything about it so why bother
