My home is 2 years old and I have never had this problem in my life until we built our home out in the country. I have always used, tide, downey and bounce but lately have tried a lot of other brands because I can't get my clothes to smell fresh like they should with those products, they don't smell bad but they just don't have that lovely scent of those products. What is the problem? Could it be the well water? We have a water softner so I don't know what the problem could be. Any ideas?

This appears to be the water. Well water is hard water and is not treated like the water you get from a reservoir. There can be a high amount of iron or other minerals in the water.
I suggest to get the water tested by a licensed water specialist. They can offer a solution better than you try to get here.

If you live near the midwest purchase or rent a water softner. Another alternative would be to add a cup of borax to your laundry water w/ tide and downy... Also try Suavelll it is in a blue bottle it is very stong!

Make your laundry loads smaller. And don't dry on a high heat setting.

It could definitely be the well water. Have it tested for high mineral content like iron which will affect cleaning products smell. A water softener will not correct iron but there are water conditioner systems that can.

I agree with john f n. In the mean time, try adding 1/2 cup of baking soda to the detergent and wash water. If you iron, don't use tap water. See if that helps, but get your water tested anyway.

The bitter musty smells are from the wash cloths being damp whilst they went into the laundry. i take advantage of a mixture of OxyClean & detergent and placed the laundry on a soak cycle. They soak for approximately 15 minutes, and then rinse, & wash as widely used. confirm you in addition to might use warm water, and in case you want to apply bleach, do it after the preliminary soak. a fashion of combating this interior the destiny is to enable the rags air dry a lot of how formerly putting them interior the impede. as quickly as this is commonly dry, toss it interior the impede and there is not any moisture to reason the smell.

Yes it could be due to your well water. You may want to check the iron in your well water. You may have to change your detergent and your fabric softners until you find the right one. Sorry wish I could help you better!

Yes it could be the well water, but that should not effect the Bounce Dryer Sheets. Try switching to Ironing Spray.
