I agree, except it looks like liberals will be the ones without guns. They must be scared.

That's crazy! Everyone armed!? That's just asking for trouble that is! Besides as far as I know most citizens in the U.S. have guns and has that made a safer society? Not likely! An armed society is not a polite society. Why would you even think that? Criminals are citizens that have guns-duh! There is so much of a gun culture in the U.S. kids are taking them to school and shooting other students either accidentally or otherwise, i.e. Columbine high school and others like it. I don't suppose you watch the Simpsons? If you did there is are countless episodes that show the awfulness and stupidity behind the reasons for owning a gun. For in a household that owns a gun or guns the family is more likely to be shot by a family member than a perfect stranger-there are statistics to draw from. I don't believe humanity has ever stroven for a period where there were no guns or war ever. We are always living in a time of war and violence and never of peace and humility. If there were no guns anywhere there would be no need to incur violence and no unnecessary deaths. People claim guns are needed for protection, but if those that were attacking had no guns either than there would be no need for protection via guns. After all violence in defense or assualt only perpetuates the situation into a terrible circle of blood, death and misery-it's a circle one cannot get out of. I say that guns-weaponry of any form should be destroyed and that we should try and live together as brothers and sisters...that we are already but not enough realize this. Yes blood brothers and sisters fight but they don't kill and maim one another as humans do to one another as whole.

Lets just leave things as they are. Some people are insecure and do not feel comfortable with a weapon. so the criminals can take them from them. My self I like the .357. Got a 6" barrel on one for the house and yard. Got a 3.5" on the one in the truck and a 2 shot that will fit my pocket. Get a liesen and tote yours. The more people tote the more criminals think about holding up stores and such because of the other customers. Living out where i'm at anyhow most clerks have one under the counter. Just use your right to bear arms. Do not forget the idea of carring a gun is to not have to use it.

You are not the first to think this, and you sure won't be the last. But don't get your hopes up because it isn't going to happen. Take a look around you, do you really want to see a gun in some of those peoples hands. I know I don't. They are scary enough looking just sitting there. Knowing they are armed is a nightmare. Pretty soon there will be people getting shot for anything and everything. They don't like the way you comb your hair, bang. You looked at their wife wrong, bang! You didn't signal for a lane change soon enough, bang! And the list goes on.

All the citizens would be armed and trained. That would mean all the future criminals would be armed and trained - and therefore police arming and training would be less effective - if at all. Smart move.

An armed society is a dangerous society.

Actually, that's true, an armed society IS a polite society. Dangit, I can't remember what country it is but there's one out there that households are required to have a gun (and I think they have to go to military school too) and the crime rate is pretty low. Also, the piece of crap that tried to break into my house the other day probably wouldn't have if he knew there'd be a gun pointed at him.

Natalie refers to Switzerland, which does require every household to have a firearm and belong to the national guard. Their crime rates are some of the lowest in Europe.

I believe that deterrance (sp) has a certain effect, however, if everyone has a firearm (including criminals), you would see the homicide by firearm rate skyrocket. People's behavior in this country is a bit to hot headed and unpredictable to allow everyone to have a firearm.
