If you loved the old one why not see what its maker has in a larger size. Otherwise go for a 19" or larger widescreen LCD monitor. Look for lots of pixels and high contrast and high speed.

I just had the same problem as you about a month ago and I was able to find a great screen. After doing some research I decided that the Acer brand was the best for what I was looking for. Acer offers cheap screens that are quite large and reliable. Also because of the success of that product they are branching into computers. The screens are bright, vivid, and surprisingly squarish (meaning you get more screen for diagonal inches). I would recommend this brand to anyone.

There are many good brands available at reasonable prices.

Consider what you are going to use it for i.e. if you are going to watch movies you might want a widescreen format.

Get the highest "refresh" rate you can afford and ensure that the item supports your video card.

At the expensive end of the scale, and assumming you have a PC, you could think about getting a DVI output video card which would mean extra expense but much better picture quality.

If you want it big, you should consider a flat screen LCD television.

You can get these from 14" all the way to 62". Most will have connection for pc input.
