you see the bad habit i have i will call the "al bundy habit" and for those of you who watched married with children probably know what "al habit" i am talking about. Yes the one where he puts his hand in his pants when he sits. unfortuntely i have that same problem and find myself doing it a lot. im not being perverted about it or anything its just a comfortable place to put my hand and thats all. however its not a sitiation that you should do in public because its not approriate. so my question is why do i do this and is there any reason that i would do it. is this a bad habit i never grew out of , like some people who suck their thumbs into adulthood. is there a psychological or medical explanation for this. or is it just a comfortable pose for me that although looks inapporiate is really nothin to be concerned with at all.

I had a friend who had the same problem, so I told him that if he wanted to stop being so close to himself he should start getting close with others. Surprisingly, it worked. He tried sticking his hands in his pockets, but that didn't work long and he was right back to his old ways. The only thing that worked was him getting out and knowing people. When you have to give someone a hug or shake their hand, you feel a little more conscious about where you put your hands.

So my advice to you is do the same thing. When you get to know someone new, give him a hug and shake his hand. You might mess up a few times, but eventually you'll just stop being Al Bundy in no time.

As you say It is comfortable doing it.
Each time you go to do your bad habit. stop and put your hands
on your lap ..or hold something in your hands.
It is a habit you got used to and no one has tried to break you of it. It is an everyday thing for you.
All bad habits can be broke.You need to want to break this habit .

but to answer ur q, u should consult a psychologist or doctor

if u rather not, just try to be more "conscious" of it, and force urself to try alternative positions

its going to take some time, but habits CAN be broken
