My youngest child smiled in the hospital - it was a real smile and not just gas. She would stare intently into your eyes and then smile the cutest little crooked smile. Her hospital picture caught it beautifully. My older 3 children were 2-4 weeks old when they first smiled.

My first daughter smiled at about 2 weeks old. A friend asked if he could nurse her and as soon as she was in his arms she had this massive smile.
My second daughter smiled at 2 minutes old. My Mum cracked a joke and she smiled and lifted up one brow.

First couple of hours and has been smiling ever since, and NO! it was NOT gas. But he was 3 wks when he started to giggle.

my baby girl smiled about 2 weeks...i was totally surprised but then she was also holding her head up alittle and moving around soo much within the first month

My oldest was 6 weeks old. I am hoping in a week my 5 week old son will do the same! Can't wait!
