The idea of arranged marriage is sooo sick. Guys and guy's family feel they own the girl and her family. They demand money....gold....cars...bikes....this ..that. Its so freakin sick.

They accept what they get. Most of them won't ask for it by themselves. Most of the gold in thos emarraiges is a part of the girls jewelry and these ladies are very particluar about their parental belongings. They don't prefer sharing them with their in-laws. So it's ok...

Hindu daughters cannot inherit succession of parents' properties whereas sons can; hence dowry while marrying.
Many a wives are brutally killed or burnt alive on inability/refusal to give further dowry.

Because they are more intelligent, they know ---GOLD is the secret currency, and they are very calculated greedy------AND dont trust our indian currency.

guys is it? girls parents give it to their daughter financial security in the form of gold.if its in cash there is always the chance of misusing by her in-laws.
