I'm 22 and I just found out that I'm gonna have to get a hysterectomy. I just wanted to know if there are any women out there under 25 who have had one.

I knew of someone that had one at 19 and she had nothing but problems. She had hers for endometriosis.

I would recommend getting another opinion because the problem that you have may be very easy to treat with other options if it's not cancer related. And even then sometimes with cancer there are other ways to treat it to save one's life.

Also, in some States a dr can not do a hysterectomy on someone that is under 30 years old without getting special permission from the State's medical board.

I had a fibroid tumor for 2 years and my doctor did a couple different procedures which did not work. When my problems became severe, he told me I was going to have to have a hysterectomy, but that wasn't something that I could accept. I was only 24 years old at the time. So I found a new doctor to get a second opinion and he had much better news for me. He was able to remove my fibroid and leave everything intact. And that was the best decision I ever made. It's been 3 years and everything is intact and no more problems. Just make sure you explore all your options and get a second opinion if you can. There are so many treatments out there and one just might work for you.

I was 27 when I had a hysterectomy and for me it was the best I've ever felt. You don't say why you have to have the hyster. but at your age you should get a second opinion(you doc should not mind). If anything, it will be a relief to your mind to know there were no other alternatives, and there are a lot these days. I already had my children and didn't want anymore and had tried over many many years the different meds etc. Ask questions and know what to expect with menopause brought on early. Good luck and good health.
