read books maybe? or if you don't like that you can volunteer to read books at your library or help out in a soup kitchen. that way you'll know what it feels like to work for long hours.

There are a lot of options. A really great one is to volunteer...not only are you helping others (the real bonus in this situation) but you are also helping yourself. If you're in high school, it will help you acheive a few of your community service hours.
You could also send out flyers and put up posters for babysitting. This can occupy some of your weekends and some after-school days. Get to know some of your neighbours that have young children and then consider advertising your babysitting a little bit. :) It would definitely help, and you would most likely get paid to do it.
Or, another idea would be to join an extracurricular activity that you might enjoy. It doesn't have to involve other people your age. For example, you could ask your parents if taking private music lessons would be an option. Or, you could sign up for an art class, sport or computer class - whatever you're into. If you don't want to interact with others, consider your options...private lessons/classes are available for some activities.
Getting a pet would also be a smart idea. Pets can be great company during the cold winter days, and the rest of the year as well. If an animal such as a dog is too much work for you (though they would be time-occupying and a lot of fun) then a kitten/cat would be a smart choice. You could also get a pet such as a guinea pig, bird or rabbit. Get an animal that you can hold and/or play with. An animal like a fish doesn't really keep you company!
I hope these ideas have helped, and I hope you can find a job soon :)

I am in the same situation, but a lit different, I am desperate for a job too, and have failed to find one, at times I am happy about that, cause i like the idea of having free time, and not worrying about the stress from a job, and i have become so lazy by this, but we must do what we have to do to make something of ourselves, bills and the nice things we want in life arent going to pay themselves, and certainly your parents cant do it for long, so you need to find either a hobby something you enjoy doing that makes you happy, I find the computer one thing for me, but i been noticing when my son is in school, I have become so obssesed and made it a priority, until that job comes around, you definalty need friends, without them you will feel lonely and depressed, talking to people always helps and it seems you are neglecting that, maybe try talking even to parents.... running away from the problem, only makes a situation worse, unless you are old enough to save that money once you have a job and move out, but then, you will only see,.. that you need them more than you thought

You might check out Job Corp. This is a federally funded job training program for low-income people 16-24 who want to learn practical job skills.
Housing, food, and medical care are provided. The focus will be to help you learn a marketable job skill. There are many, many rules, but this program prepares you for living and working independently. You will live in a very structured dormitory like environment where you have the chance to make good friends.
If this is of interest, I'd talk to a local office and see about a visit to one of the centers.

I know how you feel. I used to be a cheerleader, run track, and be a swimmer in high school so I was so used to have after school activities every day and having something to do at alltimes ofthe day. Well when I graduated and moved away to go to college, I just did not know what to do with myself. Now I wish I could have that free time back! I would do what you have been doing now, but then I started going to the gym, work out, go to art galleries, openings, go to the movies, things like that. Maybe rent a bunch of movies and such. Just enjoy all this time you have for yourself for now.

Sign up for a class in a skill you'd like to learn at a community center, volenteer, babysit, or workout. That way you're making money or improving yourself! Good luck on the job and filling your bummer hours! Hope you find something fun to do!

Get some type of certification. Instead of spending money on shopping, try getting certified on-line on Microsoft programs. That way, if there is a gap in your resume', you can say that you accomplished something in your downtime. And you'll have another thing to add to your resume'!
Either that or take a class in something that interests you, you can also market yourself in that way.

Learn a foreign language. You can download free podcasts on iTunes, browse foreign websites, watch movies in foreign languages (just look into your DVD library).
This is good because it will actually help you to find better jobs in the future (you'll be more qualified).
It will broaden your horizons and allow you to travel easier.
