I have a 2006 lexus IS 350. I got into minor car accident a few months ago where I drove over a dead deer carcass. I needed to have some body work done to replace the front bumper and repair the under carriage. But now when I drive it, it doesn't seem very smooth at all. I feel every bump in the road, the car seems to lurch and jerk forward when i'm coming to a stop or accelerating from a stop. Does anyone know what is going on?

There could be a number of different things to cause what you have described, but if this didn't do it before the accident and has been doing it since then I would suggest that you take it to another body shop tell them what it is doing and ask if they can look closely to the under carriage, to include the tie rods also have them check and insure that the transmission hasn't been jerked away or partly away from the motor. Your information is a bit ambiguous but I have tried to cover those things that come to my mind

Sounds like you have a bent wheel or a damaged tire. There also could be some problems with the drive axles. Take it to a tire shop for an inspection. If they don't find anything wrong, then a stop at the mechanic to have the drive train checked is needed.

Your car is a new one. You had an accident. The car didn't get a complete repair. I would check: 1) The tires; the wheels (might be bumped); the wheel's "rocking" or "swinging" (sorry, my language is spanish) (is when small peaces of lead are added to the wheels); alignment; 2) shock absorbers; or 3) the stabilizing bars. Luck.

Well for one thing. I suppose you have insurance. if you do , call your agent or claims rep. You've more than likely damaged some of the suspension components on this car. Continuing to drive this car could cause even more damage. it could even be unsafe so park it until its been checked out. by a certified lexus dealer. and good luck

Tony; They may have repaired simply, [everything],
but neglected to see-yo a proper computerised
WHEEL-ALIGNMENT ! Regardless of WHAT you are told [by the] Steering-Shop: a Lexus, -as in a Mercedes- is rather averse to [any] "toe-in" of the front wheels.(They do NOT like it on freeways).
Stay IN the shop, and absolutely INSIST that the Mechanic sets your front-alignment on; 'exactly parrallel': "NO 'toe-in', thanks!" Also, have him check that the damper/"shocker" rubber bushes are "free-of play": TIGHT!

I know with a certain Mercedes we had it was a little fussy on WHAT BRAND of REAR tires were fitted.. (one Michelin (made in Nthn. Ireland ..would cause the car to (kinda)-"shunt"-&- jerk, on start-off.
(Different tires suit different cars: simple as that; but they MUST be all running in perfect "track" in relation to each other, with rear-drive cars with "all-round Independant suspesion)..

Another thing: own a reliable tire-pressure guage.. (Service-shops have a horrible habit of OVER-inflating tires -just before the car 'goes OUT'..: 40 lbs can make ANY car, 'ride-like a rock')!Check them, soon as you can: do not trust gas-station/public guages; tires should only BE checked when "stone-cold" -and usually, 28 lbs -is about, NICE.

Possibly you have something bent on the suspension from hitting the carcass. Does the car pull to the left or right?

sounds like you have a broken motor mount and it is shifting out of position and not quite dropping back in when your stopping so the throttle cable can be shifted and or tweeked and not sliding smoothly.
