He is oneof the most outstanding players in the NHL and yet, nobody sees his talent, heart, and devotion to the game. He is one of the most clean hockey players in the league and someone needs to acknowledge this hockey great.

Right or wrong, the main reason he doesn't see more attention is because he doesn't score enough. The players that get the most attention are the ones that put up the points. He averages well below a point a game, and he only has two 30-goal seasons in 11 seasons. No points. No attention.

That said, I challenge the notion that he does not get any recognition in the league. He has won the Selke Trophy for best defensive forward three times! What other recognition should he get? I think you are just overplaying how good a player he is because you're a fan. Nothing wrong with being a fan, but be reasonable. What exactly should the rest of us be doing? Lehtinen is a great player, no doubt, but there are other players in the league that are better.

You know, he does get a little recognition as one of the best "both sides of the ice" players. He has been my favorite Star since his rookie year in Dallas and he is a very quiet down to earth guy and I think he likes not having too much attention on him.

He is always productive, usually having 20 goals and 20 assists a year type player and as well as he plays defence he hardly ever goes to the penelty box.

He is the type of player that lets the numbers and his performance on the ice do the talking and while the media doesn't give him all the praise he deserves, the players in the league know him and respect his game. What more can a player ask for.

Simply because as a scoring right winger he has only topped 30 goals and 50 points twice in his career. While that is good it does not rank with some of the elite of the last 10 years. Plus he plays in Dallas. Might be a big draw in Texas, but no National following.

He's not brash, flamboyant or flashy in play or in person. He also plays in Dallas and is not North American, which makes it harder for him to transcend regional appeal.

I think his conservative, cerebral game is recognized by opponents and fans, but that's as far as his notoriety will go. Most contending teams have at least one player that fits that status.
