Hello, I'm on the second week and seeing definite improvement on my yeast infection symptoms:

Note that: If the yeast infection doesn't respond to over the counter treatment, prescription medication will likely be necessary. Similarly, if the symptoms return after two months of being treated, you should contact the doctor for professional treatment rather than resorting again to home treatment.

If this is the first time you have experienced a yeast infection, you should schedule an appointment to have the condition treated by a doctor instead of resorting to home treatment

Truthfully, they all are about the same in terms of effectiveness. I would buy based on two criteria.
1. Which is cheapest
2. Which would be easier for you to use. Some are 3 nights, some 7. Some have a little pill you insert in the vagina, some are creams you insert with an appplicator. The important thing is that you finish all the treatment as per the package instructions, so get one you can live with!

I have one question for you. Did the nurse culture it to see for sure if it was yeast?
As for the monistat I would recommend asking her or the dr at the health clinic at your college if they have one which one they would recommend you use.
When I have used prescription strength yeast medications I used the 7 day ones because it takes me a bit longer to get rid of the yeast infection.

Most any of the over the counter treatments are effective. Your doctor can prescribe a pill that you only have to take once though and it clears it up. I've used Monitsat before and it worked fine.

first of all, if this is your first you should go to your doctor to be certain. they can give you the prescription, but if you're going to go get something over the counter anyway, it doesn't matter which monistat you get. however, as it is your first, you should do the 3 or 5 day treatment in case you are sensitive to the medication. the 1 day is very strong.

Hopefully your doc will give you a prescription for diflucan, it's just one pill, costs less than $5, and you can usually see significant improvement within 24 hours.
