It's an ancient method of hair removal in Asian countries. It's now a preferred method over plucking with tweezers which only grabs one or two hairs at a time. Threading grabs a bunch of hairs but in a straight line so it's much faster and you get a cleaner line.
You can use cotton thread like you get from a sewing kit. You take the thread and twist it, roll it against the hair which gets wound around the thread, plucking it from the follicle. It works great on fine hair. I've mainly seen it done on the face, around the eyebrows and trimming the hairline. I actually grew up watching someone do this and thought it's pretty amazing. Someone who's skilled at it does it in a sweeping flourish and leaves very little trace of redness. Thanks for asking...it brings back memories!

You basically use a piece of thread to pluck out your eye brows. It's really hard to explain how to do it so I can't help you on that part. Threading is one of those things where you have to see how its done to know how to do it. I personally get my eye brows threaded by an Indian salon. I'm not sure if it's originated from India. All I know is that girls in jail thread their eye brows too. You can't have tweezers and God forbid they'll have access to hot wax. What they do is take out a piece of thread from their clothing and than thread their eye brows just so they can look good. It's kind of funny.

A skilled threader (meaning someone who knows how to do it, because it's tricky) uses a thin string---a thread---and weaves it through and around unwanted hairs in your eyebrow area. As they pull the string, the hairs are removed in a plucking way, but all in a set and by the string. It's supposed to be easier than plucking because it happens all at once and is done for you, and less irritating to skin than wax or depilatory. It also can be more exact than waxing or depilatory, depending on the skill of the threader.

great hair shaping technique. Threading grabs loads of hairs in a straight line unlike tweezing grabbing 3 to 4 at a time, it's much faster and you get a clean cut line f removed hair. I had it done from a sweet middle eastern lady. It's where the use thread to pull out your hairs straight from the hair follcal. it gets deep down unlike tweezing where it breaks the hair. The lady puts the thread in her mouth and twists it in a special way and sets it in place and pulls straight out of the hair follical. its pretty painful at first but it works really well. It makes your hairs thinner and it's addicting to get hair threaded rather than tweezing. Much less painful technique than waxing and doesn't cause wrinkles in your skin. If you thinking of getting it done DO IT! I promise you it works well.
Hope dis helped = P

It is a technique for plucking/shaping eyebrows using a piece of thread. The thread is manipulated in such a way that it overlaps on itself grabbing hair and pulling it out.

they actually use a thread to take out the hairs near ur eyebrows. Its very effective, and its safer than waxing because waxing pulls the hair out.
