There are a lot of numbers on the screen. # of lives, # of the big coins, # for the points you get by crossing the bar at the end of a level, # for time, # for coins, and I know what all those do.
But the points that you get when you stomp on a character or doing other things. What are those points for???????????????

i believe they are for the high score, to compare to others' high scores when they play, but i could be half wrong.

lives- how many times you can die
big coins-
A- Lets you acces certain places. Usually mushroom houses.
B- You can buy backgrounds, in a little house in the first world. You can unlock it by passing the game.
points- They don't do anything. Just a high score.
coins- you get a life every hundred points.

Nothing really. It shows the high score on the title screen, and that's it.
