Intel Core 2 Duo and dual core is that the same thing?

if not which is better i am truing to buy a CPu i can't CPu say dual core ..all of them shows Intel Core 2 Duo ..nerver show intel dual core processor ...

the reason it says Intel core 2 duo is because Intel has that name copyrighted, they cant copyright a type of processor because that would be like copyrighting the word computer. However there is a better one, the Intel Core 2 Extreme is the best processor out right now, its about twice as powerfull as the core 2 duo but it does of course cost more.

core 2 duo is latest, and is not the same thing as dual core, all new intel computers have intel core 2 duo, so u likely wont get anything older unless you buy used, core 2 duo is best

dual core is just a general term for any processor that has 2 cores, pentium d is an older dual core processor, and i dont know if pentium d and core duo are different things
