Many secret societies and groups have gone by the wayside but I keep hearing about these pretty often:
Free Masonry
Knights Templar
Illuminati
Rosicrucians
I'd say the Knights Templar from that list seem to be the ones who capture the imagination of the public the most. They often get their history wrapped into the other 3 on the list.
