No! i do not think they should have went from unranked to #17. i tell you what i am getting so pissed over this season, first of all i mean duke loses 4 straight and then beats BC and now is ranked #17? it doesnt make any sense at all!. college basketball loves duke, "duke" vitale love duke, loves his "dukies" and loves coach k. i cannot stand duke they are just a bunch of little rich white boys that expect everything to come to them in life and whine when they dont get something they want or get an unwanted call. second of all louisville beats a #5 team and a #12 team and now they are only ranked #20? and third of all ohio st. is ranked over florida and they are #1! Florida beat them 86-60 earlier in the season and they are still ranked over them. this season makes no sense. duke gets all the love from the media and from espn and from college b- ball itself. it is unfair to have this "favorite" feeling to duke. the tourna ment commitee come march will give them a higher seed then they deserve and duke will get knocked out of the tournament early and still be in the top 5 next year in the preseason polls. i have hated duke all my life and this season i have hated them more than i have ever hated them in my life. they have got so many calls towards themselves this season that it is so ridiculous. i would have thought the whole thing with the lacrosse team would have at least tooken some of their "favorite" feeling away, but it seems that it only made the media turn to duke even more. no other team in college b-ball gets more attention than duke.and everyone that says they shouldnt make it to the big dance is absolutley right, they have no right to go the tournament, they are just wasting another spot for another george mason.

If any other team would have gone through what Duke has this season, they would have fallen out of the rankings two weeks ago and they would have re-entered the rankings this week at 24 or 25. But Vandy goes from unranked to 17/18 with a home win against Florida? The poll system is broke.

No teams struggle all year round to earn a top 25 spot and Duke is given a top spot every year to start the season, then this year they lose FOUR straight to all in-conferance rivals. They did everything to lose this spot. Last week they were ranked 26th I could have understood a modification to maybe 22nd but rising 8 places. It almost seems as if the drop out of the top 25 was a punishment to Duke but they won a few games and instantly they are forgiven and the tournament can go on with Duke in it.

No because I've seen plenty of other un-ranked teams beat ranked teams sometimes 2 or 3 times in a row and they don't even break the top 20. But I wasn't surprised to see the #17 ranking after all Duke always seems to get special treatment.

If you go back and look at how all the lower ranked teams did over the weekend compared to What Duke did, it is understandable how the jumped up so much. Duke might have lost 4 in a row, but only one of those losses was real bad (Maryland) all the rest they had, just at the end they starting playing, like the young team they are, with nerves and lost late leads to UNC, FSU and Va Tech.
Duke also went to a very tough place to play, and beat Boston College soundly, then followed that up by whipping a very hot Georgia Tech at home. #17 I do believe sounds fair.

Duke always gets special treatment how is VA Tech 10 spots behind them if they are ahead oof them in the conference and also beat UNC twice, it's not surprising though it always happens coach gay and his dukies are always ranked five spots higher then they should be, but I guarentee that the only way they'll get to the sweet 16 is if the refs win them a game

Look at what the teams in the lower half of the top 25 did this week and look as see how many unranked teams are now ranked this week. I think its like 7 or 8 teams and this late in the season there isn't usually that much movement.

Duke does not have a very good team at all this year. They play hard, but they just don't have the talent to compete this year. Years of losing players early and sub-par freshmen classes have taken their toll. They will be lucky to make the tourneyment and if they do they will get bounced early. Sorry. They just aren't that good.

Not really, but there aren't as many good teams as there were around this point last year, so who else is going to be up there? Butler shouldn't be in the top 15, and Alabama should not be ranked... period.
