Eventually something will change and a new company will emerge. Computer technology is developing all the time and its difficult to predict just where it will end up.
A major change in the architecture of computers could be the driving force behind such a change. The technology we currently use is still linked to the original IBM computers that first gave Mr Gates his big break. Apple Mac took another route and whilst not as big and successful the technology involved is more able to adapt to the future. The limits of the current PC technology is being reached, which is why we are now seeing dual core processors.
A new chip design, maybe biotechnology who knows will eventually bring something forward which will change the way our computers work radically. There may not even be the need for an operating system as we currently understand it, is at this point that Microsoft will sink or swim depending on how well they can adapt.

there'll continuously be a huge #2 wrestling corporation accessible for my area. Will all people upward push to the heights of WCW? possibly, yet as long simply by fact the McMahon's run the WWE no one will overtake the WWE for extra that a pair of years at a time.

It would be nice, since MS lost its creative edge in a way and became a bunch of "stuffed shirts"... but we kind of know IBM never lost its dominance either (they're still going strong!) so MS is probably there to stay and other strong players will just wander in...

Probably not, just because of the fact that Bill Gates has enough money that even a hostile takeover is impossible(that means someone buys stock until they own over half)

not neccesarily, it might be overtaken by freeware though, as the amount of free operating system users grows, and since just about all of microsofts stuff only runs on windows, when that goes down, the company goes down
