I too love Patricia Cornwell and Jonathon Kellerman.

Steven King's Misery is great or Craig A Lewis - Testimony.

However for something completely different try these:
Alice Sebold - Lovely Bones.
Jodi Picoult - The Pact (or any of hers)
Cecelia Ahern - If You Could See Me Now.

All really good read but nothing like what you've stated above.

Also good websites to have a look at:
http://www.whatshouldireadnext.com
http://www.librarything.com

These you type in books you have liked and gives you similar reads - I prefer the 1st one. Have got some great reads from that!!! Books that I have not heard of and/or would not have chosen myself.

Hope helps.

Try Lawrence Block, Andrew Vachss, James Ellroy, James Lee Burke, Henning Mankell, Janet Evanovich, Bill Pronzini.

You also might be interested to read Back to the Badlands by John Williams which includes interviews with various American crime writers.

I haven't read any of these authors, but Wide Sargasso Sea is by Jean Rhyss. I found that quite heavy going in places, but it is particularly interesting if you have read Jane Eyre because it is about the early life of one of the characters in that book.

I have to confess I have never read any of those authors, but I have just finished an amazing book called Wide Sargasso Sea, not sure of the author.
