China. They will open their currency for investment and wil sink the dollar and destroy the EU in one move. It will be before 2050.
India is like Mexico and Brazil, fast growing economies but they will never be a dominant power. Its taken China 50 years to be recognized as a real power but they have been the dominant force in Asia, much more so than the Russians.

I think India has too many religious and social issues that will hold it back form being a dominant power. China is a more likely candidate, and they would be even more powerful if they got rid of the archaic form of government we know as Communism which also brings up social and even religious issues. I see the European Union and the US as still being dominant powers in 2050. It is even possible that a nation who is considered a 3rd World country will emerge as a power greater than any of those mentioned.

China, America, than India. China's economy will be interdependent on ours and visa versa. They have just experienced a 10% growth in there economy for the fourth year in a row. We on the other hand only 3 %. There large population is there most valuable asset. India is in similar a position but America will keep the technological edge and India being in a region of such instability will deter foreign investing therefore leaving them in third place.
Intriguing question.

The economic growth rate of China for the last 5 years had been a steady 10% increase every year (the highest in the world). The economic growth rate of the U.S. has been about 3% every year. If these economic trends continue as they are in the next 40 years, China will undoubtedly be the richest nation on the planet.

"In the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be brought to ruin. And the kingdom itself will not be passed on to any other people. It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite" (Daniel 2:44) Through my study of the Bible I am sure that long before 2050 this will be the case.

The csensible money is on Germany. They live by the 3rd time lucky rule of life and they no doubt have plans for a 3rd attempt at world domination.
The next most likely is Tazmania. Its a quite unknown place but with a hyperactive tazmanian devil and Mark "chopper" Reid it has an army to be feared.
Of course my money is on Lap Land. After the 2nd war of Xmas Lap Land will establish itself as a major force, delivering letter bombs to all in mad december rampages. Nobdy can estimate the exact date but the only hope is its not Christmas everyday

The US still. China will be nipping at its heels. India will be powerful but probably a distant third or fourth. Russia will be broken up after a bloody war arising from Russia seeking to control the world's energy supplies. The EU will still be bloated and largely ineffectual because of its absurd bureaucracy.
