I will be buying a box of ethernet cables, so fiber optics are the same, right?

No fiber transmits pulses of light. Ethernet are high speed electronic pulses (digital, 1's and 0's or high and low voltages). Same concept different media.

Hi ... No. The types of devices that are interconnected by fiber optic lines are usually much more costly than a comparable device that uses only an Ethernet connection. Fiber-optic equipment can handle data at a much higher rate.

There are some exceptions, however. In situations where extremely sensitive data is being transmitted, fiber-optic connections are sometimes preferred even for low-speed connections because fiber connections do not emanate an electromagnetic field that could be monitored by clandestine devices. Therefore, using fiber connections can sometimes save costs in situations where extraordinary security is required.

Nope, fiber uses light to transmit data. You have to have a very special setup to use fiber optics.

ethernet cbl is commonly used for networking
