Without a doubt ....Zumaya...yes thats right...Papelbon is EXTREMELY OVERRATED...as with all rookie phenoms they will get exposed during their sophmore season. I mean really what does Jon offer besides a 95-98 fastball...

Zumaya has one of the most deadliest changeups in the game...reason behind it is because he can flame one by you at 100 plus mph.

In conclusion I think Zumaya will develop into a much more productive starter....

Zumaya. Papelbon's arm would probably fall off by the time he became a starting pitcher. He worked the rotation in 2005 and he was pretty much garbage. I'm sure that the sox will keep papelbon as a starter, but its a wrong move.

Papelbon does, Zumaya only has enough for 2 maybe 3 innings

It's entirely possible that both pitchers spend their careers as relievers, but Papelbon has the better chance at being a starter because that's where Boston envisioned him before Foulke had his problems. Zumaya, meanwhile, has been groomed to be Detroit's closer of the future for as long as they've had him.

Papelbon. He has a variety of pitches to throw, and he throws them well. Paps has the fastball, slider, split, change and is currently fine tuning his curveball.

Once Zumaya's heat cools down in a few years his stuff wont be as effective. Take away the difference in the speed of the Fastball and his change-up and it hurts a pitcher.

I would say Papelbon. Zumaya with his stuff, should continue in the bullpen. He can become a very effective closer with his 100 mph fastball.

Papelbon. Zumaya has been groomed to be a closer no need to change that now.

properly, he would not choose for to close this 12 months reason he can purely pitch each and every 2 or 3 days. So i do no longer see Billy getting mad a Papelbon clarification for that this 12 months. i think of he knows his place and knows that he ain't gona close this 12 months. Billy's gona be actual stable for the crimson Sox this 12 months whilst he does pitch. His stuff looked electric powered, and he would not appear like he lost something on his stuff. the only draw back for the crimson Sox is that he can purely pitch each and every couple of days. He can possibly even close at cases if Papelbon won't be in a position to choose for some reason. i think of that commerce replaced into stable for the two communities. between the adult men we've been given in that commerce looked particularly stable in the minors. the only element for the crimson Sox is Papelbon's reaction to Wagner. i do no longer think of him and Wagner are gona be stable pals.

It's Papelbon. The Red Sox groomed him as a closer last year so he could be a starter. You saw the same happen to Curt Schilling after he got injured.

Papelbon. You need more than 2 pitches to start.
