No Michael Jackson's "Thriller" came along a while after they began, when I first saw them shown in a Times Square store window, where several people could stand around and watch and hear. The first three that I remember were Madonna's "Borderline." Where she wore a cute little beret sort of cap, and maybe a striped tee-shirt sort of top, and sang in the cutest little voice. Then she sang "starlight, star bright, first star I
see tonight, and did some kind of modern dance, that I thought she did badly, and would never be any kind of dancer. And the third one I remember was Elton John's "Sad songs say so much." Which I thought was deep and profound and powerful. Later I learned he had classical training at one of Britain's Music
Academies. "Royal" something.
