If you're familiar with hypnosis, then you've no doubt heard of Master Hypnotist Steve G. Jones. His book, "Ultimate Conversational Hypnosis" has been voted as the best hypnosis course ever made. The book is also available in electronic format at: http://www.hypnosistocontrol.net
If you want to get an edge in everyday communication and lead other people towards your goals this is a must read.

Yes, I did. He "hypnotized" me into becoming the road runner...so, like a good sheep, I ran around the room, saying "meep, meep" (or did the roadrunner say "beep, beep"?) Anyway, I was fully aware the entire time, and could have refused to participate...but it was more fun to go along. My friend sat next to me, and the hypnotist told her that the number "nine" no longer existed...and then told her to count her fingers. It was hilarious! She literally had tears in her eyes, counting over and over again, and always coming up with "eleven" fingers! According to her, she was really hypnotized, and couldn't control what she was doing...it was pretty convincing, either way. But I think that hypnosis is nothing more than the power of suggestion, coupled with peer pressure (in a stage setting such as what I experienced), although I guess it can be different for different people.

When I was in high school (about 1980 or so), they had a hypnotist put on an evening show at the school. My family went. They got an assortment of volunteers to sit in chairs down on the gym floor. It was what you'd expect - making people forget things, making the captain of the football team put on a feather boa and cluck like a chicken, etc. When the guy clapped or said a specific word, they would stop. The football guy stopped mid-belly dance. He looked pissed. At one point he worked on the whole audience, telling the crowd to put their hands together and that they couldn't take them apart until he said so. It worked on some people, not me. Everyone gasped and laughed (nervously) at how effective it actually was. I was trying specifically to not participate anyway - kinda freaked me out.
Anyway, something very interesting happened later. At home after the show, we were discussing it and my mom put her hands together. Then she couldn't pull them apart! They weren't glued or anything, and she wasn't clasping them together hard or anything, she was just unable to do it. It was VERY scary for her. My stepdad pulled her hands apart and then things were fine.
I don't think I'd go to another show.

Never, I would be to afraid I'd be up on stage blurting out deep dark secrets. I just don't think I could trust anyone else to be in control of me, that would totally freak me out!
