I can see them and I can also make them. I guaranty It's not a public conspiracy, though some not honest people may pretend they can see magic eye while they can not.
If you need a proof that they are real and look the same for everyone, try this online utility - http://reveal.hidden-3d.com
it uses animation to reveal hidden image, which can also be seen with the Magic Eye sight.
Need viewing tips?
You need to unfocus your eyes and look through the stereogram. This makes patterns to overlap and gives each eye needed view, and that makes you see 3D image.
1. Look through the stereogram like it doesn't exist. Your eyes should be relaxed. When your sight is blurred try to move closer and further from/to the stereogram, and do it very slowly until some blurry relief appear behind your screen. You want to find best distance when repeatable patterns properly overlap each other.
2. Try not to switch your sight onto the image - look through it like it's a piece of glass, a window to hidden world. Hold your head horizontally, don't tilt. Also try not to blink. On CRT monitor you can use reflection as a guide.
3. After a while and at proper distance a hidden image may appear. It's always blurred at 1st time so you need to give your eyes some time to accommodate and then by itself the image becomes both sharp and 3Dimensional.
4. If you see a hidden image is inside-out, it means you cross your eyes. You need to diverge them instead. If you see doubled objects - it means you diverge them too wide, try to refocus.
It may take a while, so be patient and do this couple of times with different stereograms. It really worth it! You may experience some eyestrain and even headache first time. It's ok and won't harm you. It's also good for your eyes like exercises for muscles.
Try these stereograms for example - http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/browse.php?username=3Dimka
They may be easier than classic magic eye because instead of abstract patterns I use mapped textures.
Good luck!

I knew someone who had trouble seeing those things too, and here is what I told him-
Have you ever looked at a piano keyboard or a wallpaper pattern when you eyes weren't focused right, and it looked like it was closer to you then it really was? It's the same principle. And the dolphins won't look like real dolphins, either; what you'll see are dolphin forms molded out of whatever that stuff is....
And then the lightbulb came on.

I did see 3D pictures, but other people described details that I couldn't see in the same picture. As a matter of fact we had a dolphin one in our bathroom, and yes I could see the dolphins.

Yes, they are very good, based on optical interference patterns, a theory formed during the sixties. Work done by Bridget Riley is very similar. However with the magic eye pictures you need to look through them and focus on infinity. Your peripheral vision tends to pick them up first.

i have 2 magic eye books and they're not bullshit it just takes time and practice averting your eyes. go to your google desktop and type in "magic eye" and click on "images". they are all real pictures and you will see them if you can master how! the idea is to look through (go into "stare mode") the picture as if you're looking at a wall behind! try again and again until you get it! i thought it was bull for ages but when you finally, actually see one you'll remember how to do it next time! my mum's 58 and i taught her how to do it and she thinks it's brilliant! some of them are just what you're looking at, but hovering, and others have pictures within them! please keep trying and you will get it! then you'll be saying the same as me. don't give in! I can assure we are not pretending.Bring your face close to the picture so that your nose is touching it,gradually move the picture or your face away from the picture without looking at anything specific and the contents of whats in the picture will appear, and you too will say oooh!

I saw em, many of em, stereograms (hidden 3-Ds) in some of my old Games magazines
at first i saw nothing, until i just stared, concentrated and looked deeper, more intensely and then all of a sudden it was just there...and it was like wow...
however, i was not able to see all of them
and sometimes gave me a headache or a weird feeling in my head trying to stare so intently..
since then ive had a stroke and i cant look at them again..gee i hope thats not why i had a stroke!!

Yes --but you have to put your nose on the picture and gradually move your head backwards and sort of cross your eyes ---it can be done.My eldest son could never see them then one night at about half past three he woke the whole house up with excitement when he finally cracked it!

I've seen them an one magazine. The picture, if you stare at it long enough with eyes out of focus, the picture will start to become Taj Mahal.

Oh sorry,I know my sisters cannot see them either although they've tried hard. But myself I can perfectly see them without any try. I just try to have my eyes half-closed at the beginning and then there you go,I can see all the hidden images!
