Never run away from problems. Many a time I've wanted to bury my head in the sand, hope problems will go away, but life's not like that. I work things out now and it usually turns out OK

My mother always told me that I should always behave like there was a person standing behind me, watching over my shoulder. It would help me always to make the right choice in my actions. I have carried that with me since I was a little girl, and now it is just something that I think about naturally. (It's really hard to misbehave if someone is watching!)
Another thing she told me when I was little was that I should always be nice to everyone, because you never know when Angels were walking among us. That really affected me, and I really do believe that some people may be angels.
So I try to act like everyone is an angel, (at least until I find out that they really are a Devil!!!)

My mom told me I could do/be anything I wanted. Although she was a homemaker and never a career woman, she was the smartest woman I knew and always reminded me of the power and strength of women. She could have done anything she set out to do and been a success at it. Because of her, when I found myself a widow and a single parent at 33 I decided to go to school to become a lawyer. It took a great many years, but now I am licensed and own my own firm. Couldn't have done it without her wise words, support, encouragement and example of strength and perseverance. She taught me never to doubt myself and to be honest not just with others, but more importantly with myself.

Always wear clean underwear, and after 5 years of working in hospitals and such it makes sense. When going out always carry cab fare in the 5th pocket of your jeans or wherever, because you just never know.

Look both ways before you cross the street. Don't pick your nose in public. People will like you better if you shower. Don't wear white shoes after labor day. And my favorite, if all your friends jumped off a bridge would you do it too?

No matter what a persons race is,never judge a book by it's cover.
It has helped make a unique and better person. That attitude alone allowed me to see what a person is inside, instead of judging a person by his or her skin color, race, ethnicity, creed, religion, est.
And for that I thanked my mom for that, and I love what she has taught me.

I have 3 from my dad:
Always look people in the eye when talking to them,
If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything,
And, my personal fave,
Remember the 7 P's:
Proper prior planning prevents piss poor performance

If you want people to like you, ask them questions about themselves. People love to talk about themselves.
Especially Americans LOL.
