I don't know how but I just discovered my freezer door was not closed properly 2 hours ago. I opened it and not surprising I saw water drops. There are 2 compartments in the freezer - one full of stuff and thats the one I can't pull it out no matter how hard I try (well I don't want to pull too hard or I could break it). I suspect its the frost accummulated all around which causes this. What should I do?

sounds like you may have to defrost your freezer. If its a "frostless" freezer you can just keep it closed and it'll defrost itself, but if it's not, then you'll need to get a cooler and take out what you can, and pack what you can in ice. Then with the power off you leave the freezer door open and let it melt. you need to be really careful to keep your frozen stuff frozen and remove the food from the fridge part because defrosting can release some bacteria. once it's defrosted enough, let it cool down again then put all your stuff away.

Defrost it. Unplug the unit, pull whatever stuff you can out of it, then boil water, and put the pans in whatever freezer area is accessable, close the door, wait a few minutes, open the door, pull what ice off that you can, refill the pan with boiling water, repeat. keep towels on hand to absorb the melt, and pull chunks of ice out as they disengage from the unit.

When it's all frost free and dry, plug it back in, and put your stuff back in it.

if you think that frost is preventing you from opening a compartment in your freezer you can try to pour hot water on the area you're trying to open. Make sure its hot enough to not make the problem worse and be careful not to cause any electrical hazards at the same time. (it's a bit tricky but it can be done!)

Hope this helps

A hair dryer around the seals works well. Just try not to get it too hot. you can also unplug it and let it thaw a little. not too much though cause you don't want it to spoil your food.

Melt the frost with hot water, and then go to town with your problem.

Turn it off, rescue what you can, and use a hair dryer on medium heat to melt the ice.

Defrost and start over. Anything else will chip or break your compartment and is not worth it.
