Limewire definitely slows down the computer.

Only when you are dowloading, and trying to do other things at same time.
Steer clear of limewire, i advise using Azureus it the best of all torrent clients. I have used it now for 4 years with great success.

yes they will, if you use limewire go into the settings and tweak the system by not sharing your files and also do not allow limewire to start up automatically. also make sure it disconnects when you close the connection otherwise it will keep running in the taskbar!!!. if you dont share your files it stops people uploading which keeps your laptop running faster!.

Anytime you choose to join a peer 2 peer network, you create a security risk for your computer and your sensitive information like cached credit card numbers, logon to bank accounts, etc. It is usually advisable to avoid them as tempting as "free downloads" can be.
