Racism still exists in general, not just in the south. The only difference now is, it's less in your face as it was in the past, but it's still there.
Also, blacks, are treated fairly to a degree, but there is still racism done to blacks in subtle ways, like in the work force. There are still white people who are around 45 who still have racist tendancies. Many are still suck in the past. Some are younger and have racist families that they learned the racism from, and so if your a young black person working for them, you will experience the subtle racism.

Yes their is still racism everywhere, but if you're talking about the US the south is much worse than the north, but both sides still have much racism. I'm from the south and I encounter racism everyday. It is still segregated down here. They don't accept interracial couples at all. Also many blacks are in denial of racism. If you really would like to know live there for about a week. I've recently moved up north, even though it is still racism, it is like living in a whole new world.

There will still be racism everywhere you go for the next million years. Most people are quick to judge others even if the other person is the same race as them. It is found in soutern states more than other places. And dont forget slavery was ended only 130 years ago. And the KKK was very strong 80 years ago and it had 4.5 million members and those people raised there kids to hate certain groups of people. So ofcourse its still around today and it is worst than you think.

Some of the most racist people I have ever met are from the North, not the South. And as far as interracial couples go, there are just as many blacks who don't agree with it as there are whites. Everyone sees things from their own perspective. I don't think many blacks that say they experience racism in the south everday are telling the truth. Not to say that there isn't racism that goes on in the South. I just think the ones that always pull the race card just like to be pitied. Atlanta and New Orleans (as the mayor of New Orleands has openly said in not so pc terms) are predominately black now and most of the city officials are black.

You can still find racism in all parts of the country from all colors of people.
The southern states do not have a monopoly on it.
There are lots of non-racist people out there too. In fact the majority of people are not racists these days. However, there are a few that still cause problems.

Racism still exists everywhere. It's not just with the African-Americans, either. You'll also find it directed towards Latinos, Asians, Native Americans, etc...

There is hidden racism everywhere, but the south is not like it was in the 50's. Vidor,Texas is not even close to the way it was in the early 90's

I know I'm 7 years late. I'm an African American female from Louisiana who stills deals with racism everyday of my life. I still treat Caucasians as I would like to be treated even if they are rude.
