Is it just me or is time going faster?

Even my kids say it -- something I never said as a child!! Is possible that the earth going around slightly faster or is it just because I'm getting old :) ?

P.S. -- I guess I'm angry that the long weekend is over (lol!).

time is not going faster, although there is really no relative quantity to check it against. we just use seconds, minutes and hours, etc. to relate time against specific intervals. for example it takes earth roughly 24 hours to rotate about its axis.

If you want to baffle them, let them know that our relative time has slowed a little, due to the tsunami of 2004. the magnitude of the earthquake which caused the waves slowed earth's rotation just a little...somewhere in the realm of 1/100 of a second.

on a more scientific level, it is possible that the earth's orbit relative to the sun is decaying a little, due to natural decay of orbit. the earth may or may not be in a constant orbit, possibly getting shorter and shorter every time around. once the earth's mass and the gravitational force of the sun are in equilibrium, the earth's orbital decay will become negligible.

Some ppl call this activity the "quickening" and have been talking about it for more than a few years now. The ppl I've heard talk about it are well educated and documented physicists from Harvard, Stanford, USC and Princeton universities. Radio personality Art Bell (Coast to Coast AM dot com) is where I first heard the term. I thought it was bunk. Apparently, Mr Bell doesn't know only "crack pots, weirdos and delusionals", but ppl who actually have some historical and investigative background, formal academic degrees in the study of time and earth changes, and a working skill (as in a paid job or occupation with NASA, JPL, USGS, etc) and knowledge, not to mention other involvements. It's not just a radio show that's always about UFOs seen over O'Hare. You might give it a listen on your PC. It's pretty heady stuff sometimes. I now subscribe!

EDIT: regarding the Earth rotation and it's surface environment; the Earth is changing every minute. Seismic equip and satellite mapping proves it. They (whoever 'they' are) have concluded we are experiencing a wobble like syndrome and can expect more surface changes like the Indonesia tsunami and Mt St Helen. The scientific jury is still out as to the "why".

Just because the earth is spinning faster, it won't be able to change the length of second, minutes and hours. Only humans can change that.

yes, I think it is going faster.
There's something in the Bible about God shortening the last days or something like that....my Grandma used to tell me about it because she ALWAYS thought it was "the last days"....maybe it is...
