How early should i be in line for a rock concert if i want to be in the front (the pit)?

I want to know how early to be waiting in line because want to be able to see the singer's face. I want to be in the pit

I used to go at 5pm if doors open at 8. And make sure you go straight to the mosh pit...no wasting time first going to the bathroom, buying t-shirts, etc.

It doesn't matter how early you get there to get into the pit. Now if you want a good seat and it's just a general admission show, get there early. About 2 to 3 hours
