If you've ever seen Truly, Madly, Deeply then you'd see a film about love that doesn't work out! It's such a great film, and for a tear-jerker very well acted.
Personally, I love the old style films where romance was the main attraction, but I can also appreciate new films where it's a byline but important to the plot.
Casablanca and Brief Encounter for the former and Natural Born Killers for the latter...

In film, people are so demanding that the story ends the way they want it to..I have found the people can't really take watching a movie ending being completely different from the usual happy ending, or the ending that explains everything and leaves no mystery.....I for one love the non traditional films..And I'm only going to mention one....The Departed...One of the best films I have ever seen....One of the best endings I have ever seen...Every single main character dies...How many films do that? when you're left with a feeling of shock and surprise, it's the greatest thing a filmmaker can do

Happy
We already have enough sorrow in our world
I just watched The Illusionist last night. I cannot ruin the plot, but I guarantee you will enjoy it. It is one of the most interesting love stories I have ever seen.
I also loved City of Angels as a love story.
If you want a HOT love story, look for The Lover. It is a beautiful love story and exquisitely filmed. It might be a challenge to find though.

Well everyone thinks all the time that they will end up happily ever after but in real life that is not always the case.
I have to say that I was one crying fool for the ending of Swept Away with Madonna. Even though people canned it and thought it was a crappy flick - it just hurt my heart that she and Adriano Gianinni could not connect and be together.

Happy endings are the best...but a twist is nice if the bad guys still get what they deserve in the long run....

It depends on my mood. Right now I'm separated after 25 years of marriage so I'm pretty cynical. I did love The Notebook, cried like a baby!!!

I am all about happy endings. I've got enough things in life bringin me down...don't need the movies doing it too!
