A 45 degree driveway would be VERY extreme. 15-20 is steep. On ice, you are going to need a studded snow tire to get up that kind of grade, unless you have chains. I would likely recommend a good all-season light truck radial and a set of chains. That way you don't have to change tires in the spring and fall, you just have to put the chains on.

Get yourself a set of winter rims (steel) and add on studded winter tires (Cooper Discovery M&S, Blizzak, etc) or you can use your stock rims from your Honday CRV and place the studded winter tires.

Then get a set of nice All-season tires that can either fit on your stock rims or get yourself a nice set of chrome ones for you car. It will save you money by purchasing a second set of rims to avoid the remounting charge everytime you swap out your winter tires for your summer/all-season tires as well reduce the wear and tear on your tire and rims from the change over.

You will avg about 4 to 6 seasons on your winter tires and 3 to 5 years on your all-seasons depending on the winter/summer lengths in your area.

It is more cost effective to have 2 sets of rims if you are considering running winter tires and all-season's. You will have 1 rim paid for each year. In your 4th year you should have your second set of rims paid for!

Tires that have deep grooves in them are better for more slippery surfaces such as ice. Sticky tires are better..the tires with the little strings. I would also recommend using special snow tires in the winter and regular tires in warmer seasons. Try the website below.

you probably need two sets of tires, one set of snow and another set of all-season tires.
