My little nephew 5, whom I love and adore, is acting strange, irate, and mean and throwing things and cussing at my family members.
He lives home with his mother 98% of the time, and when he comes here he used to be sweet and loving, and we took him places, bought him things and went out for fun, and give him love and attention all he needs.
Now, he says he refuses to go to church with us because he said God is bad, he doesn't want to go anywhere for fun because he said that he'll get sick, and he really is mad all the time and confused, and it's hard dealing with him. I belive there is verbal abuse and other things going on at his home.
Please help. Is this normal?

Nephew says that his mom locks him up in the room in the dark by himself when he misbehaves, and that she threatens him that she'll throw him in the trunk and no one will find him. This is what he tells me as an aunt when I tell him not to cuss or behave and he lashes out at me.

Based on the drastic change in behavior and his verbal accounts of what's happening in the home - a call to child protective services is warranted. No child should be locked up in the dark as punishment. If he's this way at 5, how to you think he'll be at 10 or even 15? Address it now.

How very sad! You have to report the abuse to someone. Is the dad your brother? Where is he in all of this? Can you talk to the mom and ask her if she wants to get some counciling? God sent you to this little guy to help him so be brave and do the right thing. If anything bad happened to him and you knew he needed help and didn't get it, you would never get over it. I am going to pray for you guys!

No, his behaviour is not normal and it is no wonder with a mother threatening to lock him in a trunk and locks him in a dark room, some people shouldn't be allowed to have kids!!

I artwork in a habit modification scientific care placing with little ones and, regrettably, I see extremely some habit like this. particularly situations, the youngster would have a psychological ailment, such as unusual (Oppositional Defiance ailment) or ADHD, yet lots of the time, that's through fact of a loss of discipline interior the domicile. little ones require severe consistency to offer the needed stable habit. you are able to desire to attempt becoming a sequence of policies on your place and becoming a robust habit chart and supply him a sticky label on his chart while he shows stable habit. Then advantages him with different stages, like 2 stars, you are able to elect which action picture we watch this evening. 4 stars, you are able to p.c.. out a toy decrease than $x. 6 stars we are going to bypass to McDonald's and you are able to play as long as you behave. ect. ensure he's acquainted with nonetheless, that undesirable habit is purely no longer tolerated and supply appropriate punishment, like timeouts (one million minutes consistent with year of the youngster's age) and time outs should not be in front of the television or everywhere which would be "exciting." stable success!

I would call child protective services. Especially if he is telling you the things his mom is doing and saying to him. They will probably take the boy off to the side and ask him questions to see if he tells them also.

if you dont cuss, or say god is bad, then he is learning those things from his mother or another adult figure. at that age kids' minds are like sponges, they pick up things like that. and as for the thing about his mother threatening him, you should definitely ask her about it.
