Alright, I was deciding between UPenn and PennState Main. I have a GPA of 4.0, I am 3rd in my class .. soon to be 2nd. I have an SAT overall score of 1630 and a combined score of the math and critcal reading 1110. I am going to take the SATs a few more times, hopefully to improve. With that info, what are my chances of getting into UPenn? I really want to go to a school in Philadelphia but if I can't get into Penn I will go to either Penn State Main or Lehigh. I also participate in Track & Field, FBLA, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, possibly Basketball, and do community services

Those SAT scores are pertty bad. How come you couldn't do better if you have a 4.0? Is your school really rampant with grade inflation? But it couldnt be if you are 3rd in your class, right?.

Maybe you better get into a course that will help you get ready for the SATs and you can do a job there that really reflects your ability. I dont think Penn will buy that low a score. You should have no problem getting into Lehigh, Penn State, or another good school... What about Villanova, St Joes or Temple, not to mention Haverford, Swarthmore, Gettysburg, Allegheny?

Everything looks good except your SAT score. Try the ACT (most find one easier than the other).
If you're more of a word person, the SAT's probably better.
If you're more of a math person, the ACT's going to be better.

Your GPA and extracurriculars are good, but your SAT score isn't that good. It needs to be at least 2000. Have you tried the ACT? Its easier than the SAT.
