You don't. They groom themselves like cats do.
To keep him clean, make sure he has plenty of fresh bedding.
Also, what are you feeding him? Some foods really make for stinky turds. Stay with foods made for hamster and don't give him table scraps.

Hey Lady get a life - You don't bathe a Hamster, I owned 4 of them and as long as I kept there large cages cleaned [ wood chips on top underneath I use Johnny cat ] and they loved it. Would roll around in it all the time.
I cleaned their cages everyday, their hamster trail was cleaned once a week, which was a great chore, cause we had it strung out from the kitchen into the living room. Built a shelf up high and had the trail running along it. It took my son and I, 2 hours every Saturday to clean it. But we enjoyed our hammies and they Never had a bath and they Never Smelled. Everyone that held them smelled that...

No its no longer secure, it washes away organic oils they have of their fur to keep it healthy and in the adventure that they get washed they are going to fall ill and characteristic a chilly. I advise figuring out to purchase Chinchilla bath Powder and enable them rool round in it. yet when some thing stick get stuck to their fur you are able to moist a towel and rub it on their fur till it comes off or you need to purchase puppy bath wipes at petsmart. desire i helped :)

ok get a small bowl and put water in it it cannot be past his leg length gentally put him in there and drip some on his back and rub it in make shure that he does not get cold after this put him and his CLEANED OUT CAGE in a warm room after you tried him as best as you could i would not suggest using any type of soap as they will lick it off and probally get sick
allso use and old tooth brush that you cleaned to brush him if he is a long haired hampster and trim out gross spots
hope this helped!

You cannot bathe a hamster!!! What you can do, however, is get some chinchilla bath sand for him to roll around in and it will make his fur shiny, soft, and it will also make him smell better.

You don't. A hamster's fur will absorb enough water that it will weigh 3 x it's normal body weight. This takes absolutely forever to dry and your hamster could easily get sick and die.
A hamster cleans it's fur like a cat, and with a clean envornment, shouldn't smell.
If you keep his cage really clean, his smell will go away
