As long as she eats heathly and excercises she'll be fine. Some people just can't gain weight.

You dont say what she weighs. She should weigh about 125 for this height I would say. give or take 5 lbs. She can become anemic and always be sickly if not eating properly or right foods to supply enough vitamins. Watch for signs of aneroxia or other eating disorders if you are concerned. Some are dry brittle hair and skin, extreme thinness, weakness, always running to bathroom IMMEDIATELY after eating (to barf up food), sores around lips or sore throat.(If she would be barfing after most every meal, she can also rupture her esophagus and hemmorrage to death after some time of doing this). Check web for more info on eating disorders. Some people can eat and eat and eat and not gain weight too. Don't worry till you know for sure something is wrong. DO YOUR RESEARCH and watch for signs.

There is nothing wrong with your mom. I am 29, 5'4" and 98lbs, and I am very healthy, that's after two children. It is based on metabolism. Some people can eat all they want and not gain an ounce.

There is a different definition of what is healthy for every body type. Factors to consider are age, height, weight and metabolism. If your mom eats well though, I doubt there is anything to worry about.

Yes in her 40s she will have a lot of pain and bone loss. Make sure she gets to a gym to gain some weight, make sure she drinks plenty of calcium and eats 3 full meals a day.
