OK, he and his platoon have been given chemical warfare acid to make them nasty and they all shoot and gut each other instead.
But then, why does he die at the end of the movie? Did he imagine everything that appens to him in the future, including wife and kids, in a kind of acid induced forecast, just before dying?
Was he brought back to life and kept alive and given injections in the brain, as he sometimes imagined during the movie ? Why-and how- would they (the army) do that???

The theme of the film is that someone is trapped in limbo between life death hell etc..its a long time since I saw it though,but I think its all supposed to be in his head like a near death experience.. I cant remember if he s resuscitated at the end?
