Paso finos are small, gaited horses. Each horse has an individual personality, but I've seen a few used in lesson programs with children before. Most of the people I saw with paso finos rode in western style tack, so if you are interested in pursuing a huntseat discipline (especially any kind of over fences work) you might do best to consider a different breed. Also remember that younger horses of any breed can be green and hotheaded. If you're a novice or will be putting children on this horse, try to look for one that is a little older and has been through enough not to be spooky. I don't know what discipline you ride, but other breeds to consider that would be versatile enough for many types of riding and quiet enough for children include Quarter Horses, Appaloosas, Paints, and draft crosses.

You have to do your homework and find out as much about a particular horse before buying.
A certain breed will not tell you if a horse is good for kids.
The training a horse has had combined with its personality is a much better judge of how it is going to respond to a rider.
I have one friends with a Paso Fino who is absolutely perfectly behaved. She is retired and works with him everyday, grooms him everyday etc. He is never stuck in a stall all day. Which can make horses sour and develop bad habits. This Paso Fino anybody can ride because of how he is trained and worked.
I could go on and on. A one good person to ask about a horse is a local farrier. They know a lot first hand about horses. Another would be a reputable riding stable. What horses have they been using and look for when buying?
How ever you go about it, don't just go with one breed.
Personally, I think they are too tall for children. I am partial to Icelandic Horses for kids.

I've got a friend with muscles troubles and thought that she was going to have to give up riding until she found a Paso Fino. From what I've heard and seen, they are great horses, but each horse has a different personality.

My farrier will advance Paso Finos. they're alluring, clever, docile horses. the worry-unfastened tack is a 'classic' saddle, some element between western and english. you are able to regardless of the shown reality that get 'gaited' western saddles. look on line for Paso saddles. The width of their shoulders would prefer to be seen besides through reality the quickly backs. as long through reality the saddle suits extraordinary, any saddle would extraordinary be used. Their ft and legs are strategies-blowing and that they've have been given an inclination to be worry-unfastened keepers. like a number of horse, coaching is a huge component of temperament. Pasos are enormously intelligent and don't have hyper, spooky strategies-set. Paso Finos and Peruvian Pasos have been as without postpone as interbred, extraordinary right here and in South u.s.. The Paso Fino Horse association ended that practice years decrease lower back. there is an excellent looking little Paso mare interior the time of from me at our barn, i'd take her in a heartbeat.
